Background

Bates Wells Braithwaite is a full service commercial City law firm which works with established businesses, charities and social enterprises, as well as start-ups and high-profile individuals.

The Project

Interactive Space was appointed by BWB as Project Manager and Cost Consultant, and managed from inception to completion, coordinating all the professional disciplines. Julie Rees, of GN2, acquired the new 25,000 sq ft office floor at 10 Queen Street Place. Carefully advised by the team, the firm decided to move to a totally open plan layout in order to reduce costs and improve communications and productivity.

This was a major decision for BWB, as they had always worked in cellular offices. The team worked with the Client in a series of workshops to achieve buy in to the new way of working.

Client Objectives

BWB’s ten-year-lease on offices in Cannon Street was coming to an end, and the firm, which was expanding rapidly, needed to relocate. The Client appointed a professional team, to create a modern, vibrant and highly-functional office space at low cost, in a new building.

Key Facts

The Client is delighted with the new working environment and feels that they can effectively retain and attract new staff.

Communications between teams and staff morale have improved as a result of the new way of working.
