Client Objectives

The building is owned by the Council and they had a number of key objectives:
– The installation of a DDA compliant lift.
– The building must be suitable for the running of ‘Fitness to Practise’ hearings and provide Staff with good quality office accommodation with maximum natural light
– The Reception needed to be opened up, made more welcoming and less clinical, and to have more natural light.

The Project

The project included the total refurbishment of the 7,000 sq ft building plus the installation of a new lift, over three phases, with the Client in occupation throughout. The budget and designs were approved by the 30 plus Council Membership. The budget and programme were key to success and not to be exceeded. The works were carried out with the Client in occupation throughout the construction programme, including extensive excavation works for the construction of the lift foundations.
