Client Objectives

NGAM’s new premises at 1 Carter Lane is directly opposite St Paul’s Cathedral and was acquired by David Alcock of Newton Perkins. For its first UK office, NGAM wanted a very strong design statement.

The Project

Interactive Space acted as Project Managers and Cost Consultants, with full design responsibility, including space planning, interior design and mechanical and electrical engineering. For the design, inspiration was taken from nearby St. Paul’s Cathedral, with a large image reflection of it laser-etched onto the glass behind reception. Open-plan desks were tailor-made for the office, as were the 124 desk lamps, and the desk-top storage units. Muted versions of NGAM’s corporate colours were integrated into the interior design. ARTIQ, London-based art consultancy ensured that art was perfectly incorporated into the office space.
