Client Objectives

The Project Universities UK (UUK) mission statement is ‘to be the definitive voice for universities in the UK, providing high quality leadership and support to its members, to promote a successful and diverse higher education sector’. To create a new Conference Facility and associated works at their Head office, Tavistock Square. The work comprised of: provision of a new entrance, lobby area and conference room; the complete removal of a concrete staircase and stage area to provide new mezzanine and first floor staff accommodation; internal reconfiguration including a new print room facility and redecoration and repairs to the eight-story external elevations.

The Project

Interactive Space was appointed as Project Manager, Designer, Cost Consultant and CDM Co-ordinator, thereby acting as a multi-disciplined team to enable the project to be fully and properly administered from inception through to final completion. The refurbishment and fit-out happened through a phased programme with the Client in occupation throughout. The demolition and structural works had to be completed during the very tight 8 week summer recess.
