Médecins Sans Frontières(MSF) is a Governmental NGO delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare.
MSF briefed Interactive Space to rethink the manner in which the organisation uses its office space and to use the opportunity to introduce new ways of working. While the space should not be opulent, it needed to be comfortable for staff working hard and very long hours. The space audit confirmed that the Client’s requirement was for 11,500sq ft and Bond Woodhouse identified premises at 10 Furnival Street that matched the brief.
The single floor is designed with traditional office space and broadcast rooms and pods for field calls. Not all MSF UK’s 120 staff are deskbound, so hot-desking was introduced particularly for staff coming in from the field. Interactive Space acted as project managers and cost consultants, and had full design responsibilities, including space planning, interior design and mechanical and electrical engineering.
