Background

Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM) is a French asset management firm. It is a multi-affiliate organisation offering a single point of access to more than 20 specialised investment firms in the Americas, Europe and Asia. The firm ranks among the world’s largest asset managers.

The Project

Our designer took inspiration from the office’s proximity to St Paul’s, as the cathedral is reflected in the glass façade of 1 Carter Lane. The design concept was to recreate that reflection in the new reception. A photograph of St Paul’s was laser-etched onto a large sheet of glass and the subtle image is lit from above and below by LED lights to create a dramatic back drop.

The open-plan desks were tailor-made for the office, as were the 124 desk lamps, and the desk-top storage units. Muted versions of NGAM’s corporate colours were integrated into the interior design. ARTIQ, London-based art consultancy ensured that art was perfectly incorporated into the office space.

We acted as project managers and cost consultants, with full design responsibility, including space planning, interior design and mechanical and electrical engineering.

Client Objectives

NGAM’s new premises at 1 Carter Lane is directly opposite St Paul’s Cathedral and was acquired by David Alcock of Newton Perkins. For its first UK office, NGAM wanted a very strong design statement.
